Valentine’s Day Giveaway from Walmart

In The Blog on February 3, 2010 at 4:33 pm

I thought I’d post this one on its own and not in the Valentine Day Gift Guide.

The folks at Walmart have kindly donated a pink & red package with pieces from the studio of Sandra Magsamen that all retail for $10 and under. The total gift basket worth of Valentine’s Day goodies values at $34.

This giveaway is open to readers in the US and Canada and can’t be shopped to PO Boxes.

All you need to do is add a comment about ways you save money when you’re buying gifts, be it birthday, holiday or Valentine’s Day goodies. If you’re a subscriber, you can also e-mail me your tip. The best one will be picked on February 10th.

Good luck everyone.

  1. Here’s my tip–shop ahead. I start shopping for Christmas, birthdays, and all over gift giving as soon as the celebration is over. For example, I found a great t-shirt for my dad for a super low price (at Wal-Mart actually) and am giving it to him for Father’s Day, which is months away. I am always vigilant about getting great gifts for my loved ones–so I tuck ‘em away. While everyone is freakin’ out at Christmas time, I smile knowingly because I’ve hit up all the sales already. Black Friday generally closes the holiday shopping season for me (oh, and Black Friday bargains make great gifts for the rest of the year, too).

  2. The best way I’ve learned to save money when buying gifts is buying things on EBAY! I have bought so much stuff there brand new in box or still with tags for a FRACTION of the store price. I have gotten many a birthday and Christmas gift that way and looked like a hero! Gotta love a good deal! Happy Valentines Day everyone!

  3. I save buy getting gifts on sale as well as making some of them. I always make my own cards. Sometimes I’ll will do both, buy sometime little that I know they will enjoy, the they want or need, like a box of tea from the grocery store. I am always looking for and thinking of that special gift all year In doing this, I am able to give them something different each year that is personal and heartfelt. I love Sandra Magsamen’s products too

  4. i shop year round for people. whenever i see something on sale or clearance and it reminds me of someone, i buy it. i have a shelving unit and dresser drawers where i keep it. this way, i have it for a holiday that comes up. also, if they are going thru hard times and i think they need a gift i have one for them.
my favorite thing i do for valentines day is pick a friend that will be alone for valentines time day. they can be alone because of a divorce, death or break-up. i then do what i think they would like the best. it has been flowers, candy, coffee, lunch, etc. or it can be something from my dresser drawer that i picked out 6 months before!
the first valentines day after my divorce a friend sent me flowers with a stuffed animal. it meant the world to me. i try to “pay it forward” by doing it for someone else.

  5. Honestly, I found the best way to save money on gifts last year was to enter blog contests. There are tons around and I have won some wonderful items for my son that have been put away for Christmas and his Birthday. I also won items for my 11 nieces and nephews, 5 borthers and sisters and parents.. all put away as gifts! I saved over $3500 last year and I only started in April. It has been a huge help for me.
