Finding bargains is a bit like eating potato chips, you can’t stop at one. Having found so many good buys in the last couple of weeks, I wanted to find more. I went grocery shopping in the supermarket with the ‘dollar only’ aisle and did some browsing. Here are a few of the items I found.

The potato chips were first class. Great flavor, not greasy. In fact, they were so good it had me wondering why anyone would pay $3 or more for the very same thing. The aluminum foil…I’ll admit I was hesitant about buying it. I’ve not had much luck with bargain priced alum foil before. But this was seemed to be thicker and didn’t break off into tiny pieces like the other low cost ones I’ve tried. The steak sauce…I couldn’t tell the difference between it and the other well known brands. I checked the ingredient list with a higher priced sauce I had sitting in the fridge and they looked identical. The popcorn…once again, I couldn’t tell the difference.
The bread in the photo was not in the dollar aisle, but from the supermarket’s own bakery. The promotion was 10 loaves for $10. I was thinking of getting five and freezing them, but as I hadn’t tried this bread before, I decided to just buy one, figuring for a dollar if it wasn’t that great, I hadn’t lost anything. I made homemade garlic bread with it and it was perfect for the job. So next time I see a promotion like that again, I’ll be buying more to stock the freezer.
I went shopping for tax preparation software over the weekend. I usually buy the Turbo Tax program. I’m finding some of the best prices are now online. The lowest price I found was at this company www.nothingbutsoftware.com. If you’re looking for computer games etc. or even tax software, check it out. The shipping price at checkout is on a default setting, but you can change it to their bargain shipping price. Looks like it only takes a few days more and if you’re not in a hurry, it’s a way to save a few dollars.
I’ve had a few subscribers contact me about finding coupons in Canada. I’m looking into it and hope to have something for you next week.
